FAQs

What are you about?

I handbuild my pieces. A little about me here and read an interview here.

What’s available?

My primary purpose for this website is documentation. While I’ll do my best to keep it updated, the best way to learn about a piece is to reach out to me.

Even though items marked SOLD are unavailable, they are available for commission and limited customization.

Do you make sets?

I typically make extremely-small batches (1-2) as I explore form & design.

My intention is for each piece to stand on its own, so they are regarded as a unique object/sculpture. Pieces will be listed separately with each iteration.

I like to think commissions based on the designs are not duplicates, but perhaps an iteration of the original design.

Why should I choose handmade ceramics over mass-produced items?

Choosing handmade ceramics supports artistry and craftsmanship. My hope is each piece leaves the kiln already embedded with its own history & narrative.

Commissions & Custom Orders

Will my custom piece look exactly like the one I chose?

While I aim to create a custom piece that reflects the design you selected, variations are inherent in handbuilt ceramics, that your item is truly one-of-a-kind.

My work is fired in a high-temperature gas kiln (like this)

Inconsistencies can arise during the firing process in a high-temperature gas kiln. Factors such as temperature fluctuations, kiln atmosphere, and materials used can lead to variations in color, texture, and overall appearance.

What types of inconsistencies should I expect?

You might notice differences in glaze application, color depth, or surface texture/color (like hot spots!)

These variations are part of the handmade nature of ceramics and contribute to the unique character of each piece.

Can I modify an existing design?

Customizations are welcome, but limited. I’ll typically accommodate scale sizing and clay body variations.

Can I request a rush order?

While I strive to accommodate urgent requests, rush orders can be challenging due to the nature of the ceramic-making process. Please contact me to discuss your needs, and I will do my best to find a solution.

Return & Exchanges

Can I return or exchange my order?

Due to the handmade nature of the work, I typically do not accept returns. Exchanges may be possible on a case-by-case basis within 7 days. The customer would be responsible for shipping and transportation costs.

Shipping & Production Time

Do you offer local pick ups or deliveries?

I’d be happy to arrange a pick up time at my studio for free, or courier service for local delivery in Los Angeles (billed to the customer).

What if my item arrives damaged?

Please contact me within 24 hours, including documentation of the damage, and I’ll do my best to assist with the issue.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Processing times vary based on the item and availability. Ready-made pieces typically ship within one week. You will receive a tracking number once your order has shipped. Custom or commissioned pieces will take longer to factor in production time.

Do you offer international shipping?
Yes! Please contact me and I’ll coordinate with the shipping company. Customs fees will be the responsibility of the customer.
